R&D Tax Credits for the A/E/C Industry, Part 3: Construction companies’ eligibility for tax savings is awesome!

In working with hundreds of construction companies and general contractors, as well as their CPA firms and tax return preparers, I’ve found that most find it hard to believe their eligibility for federal and state R&D Tax Credits.  Even when understanding candidacy for such tax benefits, many still have difficulty grasping that any sizable savings could be reached.  These are such common misunderstandings due to the unique nature of R&D Tax Credits and their applicability to many activities in the construction industry that are often deemed as “routine.”  However, after gaining a better understanding of the broad applicability of R&D Tax Credits and how they can apply to process developments and improvements, job-specific activities, and even some work done under contract with clients, a vast majority of construction professionals and their CPA firms will agree that “everything is awesome” when it comes to construction and R&D Tax Credits.
